West Jefferson Council Special Events Committee will meet
on Wednesday, July 30th at 6pm in the Village Council Chambers.
West Jefferson Parks and Recreation Committee will
meet on Thursday, July 31st at 11am in the Water
Department meeting room.
Due to our current refuse and recycling collection contract,
we will no longer be involved with the Recyclebank program as of
August 1, 2014. You will be able to redeem any points you have
earned up to August 1 for an additional year.
West Jefferson Finance Committee will meet
on Tuesday, August 5th at 10am in the Village Council Chambers.
* National Night Out
Please be advised the village swimming pool will be closing
at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday August 5, 2014. The annual
National Night Out will take place that evening on the pool parking
lot from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be
representatives from your local, county and state agencies on hand
to discuss personal safety and home security concerns
that you may have as well as self defense demonstrations.
There will be lots of games, give a ways, hands on activities,
free food, prizes and music at this fun filled event
sponsored by the Village of West Jefferson and Target Corporation.

* Backpack and School Supply Give Away
Wednesday, August 6 (1:30-3 p.m.) & Saturday, August 9 (10-11 a.m.)
The West Jefferson United Methodist Church will be having their annual
Backpack Give Away for local students living in zip codes 43162 or 43119
within Madison County. School age students (K-12) will be provided with
school supplies, new socks and underwear.
Backpacks will be given to students that are present at the give-away.
Parents may pick up school supplies only, for absent children.
Individuals or businesses that would like to help with this project
may contact the UMC office at (614) 879-8130.
Backpacks or monetary donations would be greatly appreciated.
* PUBLIC HEARING
A public hearing will be held at the regular West Jefferson Village Council
meeting at 7:00 PM on Tuesday September 2, 2014 to discuss two
recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Commission. The
recommendations will amend the current zoning ordinance by adding
a chapter to regulate landscaping on any future development
and adding another chapter to regulate future condominium
